"Glimt fra Storbyen"

March 28th – May 24th

Since the late 1990s, Lars Arrhenius (b. 1966, Sweden) has worked with digital animation film and large graphic wall installations composed of c-prints. The main theme in his art is humankind and everyday drama. Despite the simple expression, Arrhenius' works contain delicate emotional dimensions of both gravity and humour.
The exhibition shows two large installations of 171 and 141 images respectively and six animations including his latest work "The Big Store" from 2008. The Big Store focuses on the eight minutes prior to the murder of the Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh in the luxurious department store NK, in Stockholm, September 2003. As if hit by an x-ray beam all persons are reduced to transparent skeletons. The scene is set in a totally emptied department store – consumer society's nightmare!
